The world's benchmark sweet Muscat fizz. Asti Spumante is fully sparkling at around 7 to 9% alcohol, made in pressurized tanks (Martinotti method) to keep the grape aroma; Moscato d'Asti is gently frizzante at about 5 to 5.5%, sweeter, and the version serious drinkers reach for. In the glass: orange blossom, ripe peach, sage, grapey sweetness lifted by real acidity. Buy the freshest vintage you can find and drink it cold with fruit desserts or hazelnut cake.
