Red

Avarengo

An Alpine red of the Pinerolese, west of Turin, grown on terraces in the Pomaretto valley. It goes with Avanà and Neretto into Ramìe, a light, rustic red of cranberry, alpine herbs and rosehip with high acid and very little tannin, made in quantities of a few thousand bottles.

Worth knowing

It is almost never seen on its own. Its whole existence is as one third of a mountain blend that a handful of growers make on terraces most people would have abandoned, and nearly all of it is drunk in Turin.
