RedLead grape in 1

Brachetto

A Piedmontese red grown around Acqui Terme, made sweet and lightly sparkling, low in alcohol, with an intense perfume of rose, strawberry and raspberry. It is a dessert wine that tastes like the fruit rather than the cellar, and dry versions exist without being much of an improvement.

Worth knowing

It is aromatic in the technical sense, like Moscato and Gewürztraminer, which is rare in a red grape. The perfume sits in the skins, so the wine is made with minimal extraction, which is also why it stays so pale.
