Montù

Also called Montuni.

A white native to Emilia-Romagna, also called Montuni, grown in the provinces of Bologna, Modena and Ravenna and at home on the hills south of the Via Emilia between Modena and Bologna. It gives fresh, straw coloured wines with moderate acidity and notes of green apple and pear, and it makes good sparkling wine.

Worth knowing

It ripens very late, usually at the end of October, and crops heavily and reliably. Its small, thick skinned berries carry a heavy bloom, and the vine stands up well to powdery mildew.
