Moscato di Terracina
An aromatic white grown on the coastal hills around Terracina in southern Lazio, made dry, off dry and sweet. It has the muscat perfume of orange blossom and grape, with a sea salt edge from the site and better acid than most Moscato manages in a warm climate.
Worth knowing
It is a distinct variety rather than a local planting of Moscato Bianco, which is unusual. The zone is small, hemmed in by the town and the sea, and the wine is almost entirely drunk within an hour's drive of where it is grown.
