White

Nascetta

A white of the Langhe, grown mainly around Novello, giving a wine with citrus, herbs and a waxy texture that fills out with a year or two in bottle. It is the only native white of the Barolo country and there is very little of it.

Worth knowing

It had fallen to a few rows before a handful of Novello producers began replanting it in the 1990s. Growing a white in the middle of the most valuable Nebbiolo land in Italy is a decision that has to be made on grounds other than money.
