RedLead grape in 1
Pelaverga Piccolo
A pale red grown at Verduno, at the northern edge of the Barolo zone, on a few dozen hectares. It gives a light bodied, pale wine with strawberry, rose and a striking white pepper note, with gentle tannin. It is made to be drunk young and slightly cool.
Worth knowing
It survives inside the most valuable red wine land in Italy, where every hectare of it could be Nebbiolo instead. That it still exists at all is a decision a handful of Verduno families keep making against their own financial interest.
