Semidano
A Sardinian white, documented on the island since 1780 and now grown only in small quantities, with the town of Mogoro giving its name to the appellation's subzone. It gives a dry wine with citrus, apple and a faintly bitter almond finish.
Worth knowing
Phylloxera nearly wiped it out, and the replanting that followed favoured more productive varieties such as Nuragus. The Mogoro cooperative is credited with saving it, and the Semidano di Mogoro subzone was established in 1996.
