Trebbiano Romagnolo

The workhorse white of Romagna, planted across the plain and the low hills, high yielding and neutral, giving a light, dry, moderately acidic wine drunk young and locally. It is a different vine from Trebbiano Toscano and makes a similarly modest wine.

Worth knowing

A great deal of it goes to distillation and to vermouth rather than into bottles. It exists in the quantity it does because the Romagna plain can grow it easily, which is the whole story of the Trebbiano family.
