White
Verdea
A white grown at San Colombano al Lambro, a hill of vineyards on the Lombard plain south of Milan, and in small pockets of Tuscany. It gives high acid, green apple and a firm bitter finish, made still and frizzante.
Worth knowing
San Colombano is the only appellation in the province of Milan, an island of vineyard in farmland that has been surrounded by the city's expansion. The wine exists because the hill does.
