Tasted from barrel, the 2024 Borgo Bonelli La Caccia from Toscana is shaping up to be a stunning wine once it settles in bottle. This vintage the blend shifts to 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 39% Merlot, 17% Cabernet Franc, and 4% Sangiovese, and it shows a glowing medium ruby core edged in neon pink. Crunchy black cherry and marionberry lead, layered with pressed rose, white pepper, black licorice, and a sprig of thyme, while a faint note of cocoa nib hints at what oak will add. Round and plush across the palate, it pairs chalky tannins with moderate-plus acidity and a full body, closing on a dusty, fruit-laden finish that seems to go on and on.
