Aleatico di Gradoli DOC
A sweet, aromatic red from the volcanic slopes above Lake Bolsena, cousin of Elba's Aleatico Passito. Aleatico is a red skinned Muscat relative, so the wine smells of rose petals, wild strawberry, cherry and orange peel, with soft tannin and moderate sweetness; the fortified liquoroso version is heavier and raisiny. Production is a few thousand cases, mostly from the Gradoli cooperative.
