Aprilia DOC

IL PROGETTODOCAPRILIAAAIT34297537Denominazione di Origine Controllata

No strip issued. I'm still hunting a bottle.

One of Italy's oldest DOCs and one of its least used, covering flat, reclaimed marshland settled in the 1930s. The rules only allow varietal Merlot, Sangiovese and Trebbiano, so the wines are simple: soft, plummy Merlot, light Sangiovese, neutral Trebbiano. The area's best estate, Casale del Giglio, ignores the DOC entirely and bottles under Lazio IGT, which tells you most of what you need to know.

Still hunting

I'm still looking for a bottle of this.

Can you help me get one?
