Nebbiolo grown on stone-pillared pergolas on terraces cut into an alpine gorge, about 16 hectares in total. The glacial soils and cold nights give the palest, most delicate Nebbiolo in Piedmont: wild strawberry, rose, alpine herbs, graphite and a gentle earthiness, with silky tannin and racy acid. Ferrando's white and black labels and the Produttori Nebbiolo di Carema cooperative make nearly all of it. Now a cult wine in the US.
