Elba Aleatico Passito DOCG
A sweet red made from sun-dried Aleatico grapes, the aromatic Muscat relative that grows on Elba's granite and iron-rich soils. Napoleon supposedly drank it during his exile. Expect a deep ruby color, intense rose and violet aromas, wild strawberry, cherry jam, and a bitter-sweet, slightly tannic finish at 30 to 100 grams of sugar. It's usually sold in 375 or 500 ml bottles and works with chocolate or blue cheese.
