Lambrusco Grasparossa di Castelvetro DOC
The darkest and most tannic of the Modena Lambruscos, from a red-stemmed grape grown on the first Apennine slopes rather than the plain. The wine is inky purple with violet foam, blackberry, black cherry, plum skin and a distinct tannic grip that makes it the most red-wine-like of the family. Dry versions are structured enough for grilled pork and aged Parmigiano; amabile styles are the classic pizza wine. Fattoria Moretto and Vittorio Graziano are the serious names.
