Nasco di Cagliari DOC

Nasco is an ancient white grape found only around Cagliari, named for the musky, mossy scent (Latin muscus) it gives. Traditionally made sweet or fortified, the wines are gold to amber with honey, dried fig, bitter orange, toasted nuts and a distinctive resinous, herbal note; dry versions taste of ripe pear, beeswax and almonds with a warm finish. A handful of producers, chiefly Meloni and Audarya, bottle it.
