Grapes

WhiteLead grape in 1

Nasco

A Sardinian white grown around Cagliari, made dry and sweet, with a distinctive musky, faintly bitter character and notes of citrus peel and dried herbs. The sweet version, sometimes fortified, is the older style and the one that carries most flavour.

Worth knowing

It is one of a group of Sardinian sweet wines, alongside Girò and Monica, kept alive by tradition rather than demand. The dry version is a modern adaptation and it loses some of what makes the grape interesting.
