Scanzo (Moscato di Scanzo) DOCG
No strip issued. I'm still hunting a bottle.
Italy's smallest DOCG at about 30 hectares, making a dark, sweet passito from a red Muscat that grows nowhere else. Grapes dry for three weeks or more, then the wine ages at least two years before release. Expect a garnet, moderately sweet wine with rose petal, sour cherry, sage, black tea and a distinctive bitter herbal finish that keeps it from being cloying. Sold in 500 ml bottles, meant for chocolate, blue cheese or on its own after dinner.
