Vermentino di Gallura DOCG
Sardinia's only DOCG, grown on decomposed granite in the windy northeast corner of the island. The wines are the most structured Vermentino in Italy: lemon peel, green almond, white peach, a saline and slightly bitter finish, with more body and grip than the Sardegna DOC version. Superiore bottlings carry 13% or more alcohol and can age five or more years, picking up wax and honey. This is the benchmark for the grape and the easiest Sardinian DOCG to find well made.
