Bonarda
Also called Bonarda Piemontese.
A Piedmontese red, properly Bonarda Piemontese, grown in small quantities in the Canavese and the Monferrato. It gives a soft, light, red fruited wine with low tannin, used to round out blends built on Nebbiolo or Barbera.
Worth knowing
It is not the Bonarda of the Oltrepò Pavese, which is Croatina, and not the Bonarda of Argentina, which is Douce Noire. Three countries, three vines, one name, and the label only helps if you already know the region.
