Red
Bovale Grande
A Sardinian red grown on the Campidano plain around Terralba, deeply coloured and firm, blended with Bovale Sardo and Monica in the local reds. It carries more weight and less finesse than its namesake, and it is almost never bottled alone.
Worth knowing
It is generally identified with Carignano, known in Spain as Mazuelo, which would make the two Bovales unrelated despite the shared name. It is the more widely planted of the pair.
