Grapes

White

Drupeggio

A white of Umbria and Lazio, grown around Orvieto and in the hills of southern Umbria as part of the Orvieto blend. It gives body and a nutty, low acid character, and it is a minority component in the rules and a minority planting in the vineyards.

Worth knowing

It is Canaiolo Bianco, the white version of the Tuscan red blending grape, grown under a local Umbrian name. Two names, one vine, and the appellation rules use whichever the region is used to.
