Red
Granaccia
The Ligurian name for Grenache, grown in small quantities in the west of the region around Quiliano. It gives a warm, red fruited wine with soft tannin and moderate acid, lighter than the Sardinian version of the same vine.
Worth knowing
Liguria's plantings are tiny and were close to gone before a local revival. It is the same variety as Cannonau, Tai Rosso and Gamay del Trasimeno, which between them give one grape four Italian identities and four sets of local pride.
