Lambrusco Viadanese
Also called Grappello Ruberti.
A Lambrusco of the Mantua plain on the Lombard side of the Po, also called Grappello Ruberti. It goes into Lambrusco Mantovano, giving a frothy, deeply coloured, high acid red drunk cold with the rich food of the lower Po valley.
Worth knowing
Lambrusco is usually thought of as Emilian, and this one is Lombard. The Mantovano appellation covers the strip of plain either side of the river, where the food and the wine belong to the Po rather than to any region on a map.
