Lambrusco Mantovano DOC

Lombardy's only Lambrusco, from the Mantuan plain that borders Emilia, made mostly from the local Lambrusco Viadanese with Maestri and Marani. It's the darker, fuller end of the Lambrusco spectrum: purple-red with a violet foam, blackberry, plum, violet and a savory, slightly tannic grip, usually dry or just off-dry. Drink it cold with tortelli di zucca and salami. Lebovitz and Cantina di Quistello are the names that travel.
