Red
Pascale
Also called Pascale di Cagliari.
A Sardinian red, properly Pascale di Cagliari, permitted in several of the island's appellations including Campidano di Terralba and Alghero. It is mainly a blending grape, low in acidity, giving ruby wines with plenty of tannin, and bottles of it on its own are rare.
Worth knowing
DNA analysis in 2017 found it to be a natural cross between Hebén and Monastrell, two Spanish varieties, which fits the long held belief that it arrived during the centuries of Spanish rule over Sardinia.
