Schiava Gentile

One of the Schiava family, grown in Alto Adige and in the Brescia hills of Lombardy, giving a pale, light, low tannin red with strawberry and almond. It is the finer bunched member of a group grown for volume.

Worth knowing

Schiava is a family name covering several distinct vines, of which Gentile is the one usually considered best. The rules of some appellations say only Schiava, so which member is actually planted is often down to what a grandfather chose.
