A white of the Scandiano hills in Emilia, giving a high acid, citrus and green apple wine made still, frizzante and sparkling. The acid makes it good base material for traditional method sparkling, which is increasingly where it ends up.
Worth knowing
It was recorded as Sauvignon for most of the twentieth century, and growers planted and sold it under that name until DNA work separated the two. An entire local wine identity was filed under the wrong grape for decades.
