Tasted from barrel, the 2022 San Lorenzo Brunello di Montalcino already shows considerable promise. A glowing medium ruby core lightens to a pink rim, and the nose offers ripe strawberry and Morello cherry layered with dusty forest herbs, a hint of new leather, and orange peel. Grippy tannins and moderate-plus acidity provide a firm structure for the full-bodied palate, which carries a ferrous, iron-rich accent. It needs time in bottle to show its full potential.
