Gocce 2021

Gocce means “drops” in Italian, and the 2021 Trebotti Gocce Violone from Lazio is made from 100% Violone aged 2 years in neutral French barrels. A dark, brooding purple core glows at a neon red rim, and the nose reveals dried rose, sweet baking spice, earthy tones, and licorice root. The palate adds cracked peppercorn, pipe tobacco, blackberry, and black plum, framed by moderate, crunchy tannins, moderate-plus acidity, and a full body. It is a gorgeous wine for the table.
