Carmignano DOCG

A tiny appellation west of Florence with a claim to the oldest legal wine boundary in the world (Cosimo III, 1716) and a long Cabernet tradition that predates the Super Tuscans by centuries. The Cabernet requirement gives Sangiovese a darker frame: black cherry, cassis, tobacco leaf, graphite, and softer, rounder tannin than Chianti Classico. Expect medium-full body, ripe acid, and a savory finish that rewards five to ten years.
