Cerasuolo di Vittoria DOCG

Sicily's only DOCG, a blend of Nero d'Avola for body and Frappato for perfume, grown on red sand over limestone near the south coast. The wine is mid ruby, with sour cherry, pomegranate, wild strawberry, rose petal and a peppery, earthy streak, light tannin and lively acidity; it's a red for fish and works slightly chilled. Classico comes from the historic core. COS and Occhipinti made it a natural wine darling, but Planeta and Valle dell'Acate offer polished, affordable versions.
