Circeo DOC

IL PROGETTODOCCIRCEOAAIT38489066Denominazione di Origine Controllata

No strip issued. I'm still hunting a bottle.

A seaside DOC on the sandy plain beneath Monte Circeo, where the sea breeze and reclaimed marsh soils favor easy, fruity wines. Reds are Merlot and Sangiovese blends with ripe plum, cherry and soft tannin; whites are light Trebbiano and Malvasia with lemon and white flowers. Cantina Sant'Andrea in Borgo Vodice makes nearly all the serious examples, and its Circeo Rosso Sogno shows the zone can produce a proper structured red.
