Fiano di Avellino DOCG
Arguably Italy's best dry white grape at its best site. Young Fiano di Avellino shows pear, hazelnut, white flowers, citrus and a smoky, flinty note from the volcanic and clay soils, with medium body, moderate acidity and a waxy, slightly oily texture. With five to ten years it turns to honey, toasted nuts, beeswax and petrol without losing freshness. It's a wine to buy by the case and forget about. Nearly always unoaked.
