Lacrima di Morro d'Alba DOC

One of Italy's most aromatic reds, from the Lacrima grape, whose thin skins split and weep juice on the vine (hence the name). The wine is intensely perfumed: rose petal, violet, wild strawberry, blueberry and a touch of cinnamon, on a light to medium body with soft tannin and juicy acidity. It's meant for drinking young and slightly cool; the passito version is a sweet, floral dessert red. It nearly disappeared in the 1980s and now has around 20 producers, several of whom export to the US.
