Lessona DOC
No strip issued. I'm still hunting a bottle.
A tiny nebbiolo DOC on ancient marine sand near Biella, revived almost single-handedly by Paolo De Marchi of Isole e Olena at Proprietà Sperino. Lessona on these acidic sandy soils is pale, fine-boned and perfumed: rosehip, red currant, blood orange, iron and a saline, almost salty finish, with silky tannin and acid that keeps it going for decades. Minimum 22 months of aging before release. Among the most elegant nebbiolos anywhere, and still cheap next to Barolo.
