Salaparuta DOC
No strip issued. I'm still hunting a bottle.
Not to be confused with the Duca di Salaparuta brand, this is a 2006 DOC around the rebuilt town of Salaparuta in the Belice valley, an area flattened by the 1968 earthquake. The wines are warm and simple: Catarratto and Grillo whites with ripe pear and citrus, Nero d'Avola and Syrah reds with jammy fruit and soft tannin. Almost no one bottles under the name; Tenute Orestiadi in nearby Gibellina is the best known winery in the zone and labels its wines Sicilia DOC.

I'm still looking for a bottle of this.
If you make Salaparuta, import it, or know who does, the form takes two minutes and I reply to every one.
