Piedmont's newest Nebbiolo and Arneis DOCG, basically Roero's eastern continuation on the Asti side of the provincial line, on similar sandy soils. The Nebbiolo is light to medium bodied, red cherry, rose and licorice, with soft sandy tannin and early drinkability; the Arneis is floral and peachy with a bitter-almond edge. Small, unfamous and priced well below Roero. Carlin de Paolo and Cascina Vengore are the most visible names.
