Villamagna DOC
No strip issued. I'm still hunting a bottle.
A tiny hillside DOC inland from Chieti, created for Montepulciano only, with tighter yields and a minimum of 18 months aging (36 for riserva). The clay and limestone slopes give a firmer, more structured red than coastal Montepulciano: black cherry, plum, tobacco, licorice and dusty tannins with good acid. Torre Zambra and Valle Martello are the two names that matter.
