White
Cococciola
An Abruzzese white from the Chieti hills, giving high acid, citrus and green apple with a light body and a clean bitter finish. It was historically a blending grape and has been bottled on its own increasingly since the 2000s, where it makes a good, sharp everyday white.
Worth knowing
It ripens late and holds acid in a hot region, which is why growers kept it in the blend when they could have planted something easier. Almost all of it is in the province of Chieti.
