Coda di Volpe
A Campanian white grown on Vesuvius and in the hills of Avellino and Benevento, giving a soft, low acid wine with pear, a nutty note and little aroma. It rounds out blends built on Greco or Fiano, both of which have more acid and more to say.
Worth knowing
The name means fox's tail, for the long curved shape of the bunch. Much of what was called Coda di Volpe on Vesuvius has since been identified as Caprettone, a separate variety, so the older references need reading with care.
