White
Grecanico
Also called Garganega di Sicilia.
A Sicilian white grown in the west of the island, giving a dry wine with citrus, green herbs and a saline finish, with decent acid for the climate. It is usually blended with Catarratto or Inzolia and occasionally bottled alone.
Worth knowing
It is the same vine as Garganega, the grape of Soave, which is about as far from Sicily as Italian viticulture gets. Which direction it travelled, and when, is not settled.
