Lambrusco di Sorbara

The most delicate Lambrusco, from a small zone north of Modena where the Secchia and Panaro rivers meet. Very pale, sometimes barely pink, with high acid, a pink foam and a clear violet and strawberry perfume. Made dry it is one of the best value sparkling wines in Italy.

Worth knowing

It cannot reliably pollinate itself, so a large share of the flowers never set fruit. The result is loose, half empty bunches and tiny yields, which is exactly why the wine is so concentrated in aroma while staying so pale.
