Red
Ottavianello
Also called Cinsault.
A red of Ostuni in Puglia, grown on the plain behind the white hill town, giving a light coloured, soft, low tannin wine with red fruit and a herbal edge. It is made to be drunk young and cool in a place that gets very hot.
Worth knowing
It is Cinsault, the southern French variety, grown under a Puglian name. How and when it arrived is not clear, and the name is usually linked to the town of Ottaviano near Naples rather than to anywhere in France.
