WhiteLead grape in 1
Verduzzo Friulano
Also called Verduzzo.
A Friulian white made dry in the flatlands and sweet in the hills. The sweet version, at its best in Ramandolo, comes from grapes left to raisin on the vine or on racks, and gives a golden wine with apricot, honey and a grip that stops it cloying.
Worth knowing
It is one of very few white grapes anywhere with enough tannin in the skins to be noticeable in the wine. That grip is why the sweet version stays drinkable at sugar levels that would flatten almost any other white.
