What makes it special

Italy's youngest region, separated from Abruzzo in 1963, and one of its least known. Its signature grape is Tintilia, a red that survived as a handful of old vines before growers began replanting it.

What makes it unique

Molise is small and mountainous, and wine here is still mostly a local affair. Tintilia del Molise, from the hills inland, gives a dark, peppery red quite unlike anything from its better known neighbours.

Why you should care

If you like drinking something almost nobody else has tried, Molise is the place. It makes very little wine, which is exactly why a good bottle is worth seeking out.
