Pentro di Isernia (Pentro) DOC

A DOC created in 1983 for the mountainous Isernia province, named after the ancient Samnite Pentri tribe, that has been dormant almost since birth. The rules describe a Montepulciano and Sangiovese red and a Trebbiano and Bombino white, but for years the official register has shown little or no declared production. Isernia's few wineries bottle under Molise DOC or Tintilia del Molise instead. It is a name to know for completeness, and probably the hardest tick in this batch.
