Colli Maceratesi DOC
No strip issued. I'm still hunting a bottle.
The interesting wine here is Ribona, the local name for Maceratino, a white grape found almost nowhere else. It gives a mid-weight white with golden apple, pear, acacia, a hint of almond and moderate acidity, sometimes with a slightly waxy texture after lees aging. Reds are Sangiovese-led and mostly local drinking. Boccadigabbia, Fontezoppa and Saputi are the names to look for; a handful of Ribona bottlings reach the US through small importers.
