White
Malvasia Istriana
A white of the Carso and the Collio in Friuli, and of the Istrian coast across the border. It gives a dry wine with white peach, almond and a saline, faintly bitter finish, with more body than most Friulian whites and moderate acid.
Worth knowing
It is a genuinely aromatic Malvasia, unlike the neutral ones of central Italy, and it belongs to the Adriatic rather than to Italy specifically. The same wine is made in Slovenia and Croatia, where it is called Malvazija Istarska.
